Three ice-cold metal bands from the Far North
BLOODRED HOURGLASS
TivoliVredenburg and De Helling present – fresh from the melodeath Valhalla of Finland: Bloodred Hourglass! Six death metalheads on the warpath, with no fewer than three guitarists in their ranks. So expect a bone-shattering sound, somewhere between death metal and thrash metal, but complemented by that typical Finnish sob. Since their debut Lifebound (2012), the band has served us a brand new album every two years. Over the years, Bloodred Hourglass has continued to sharpen its sound, with influences from alt-metal and metalcore – and they aren't even afraid of a poppy hook every now and then. A modern, powerful sound designed to bring De Helling to its knees. And they won't be doing it alone; the band is bringing two demolition crews from the Far North along with them.
BRYMIR
In 2006, Brymir burst onto the Scandinavian metal scene like a meteor, with only a few covers and demos to their name. Yet all the obscure forums agreed: this is going to be big. Still, we had to wait a little while for their debut album, Breathe Fire to the Sun, because the band members had to complete their military service first. How metal is that!? Later, the band fulfilled its promise after all. They do so with a quintessential Finnish sound, somewhere between Viking metal, symphonic metal, and death metal. With a brand-new album in hand, they are coming to tear De Helling apart.
PRIDIAN
Just try doing that: finding your own unique sound within a musical style with three million subgenres. Pridian pulled it off. These Estonians combine heavy riffs and polyrhythmic wizardry with cinematic soundscapes. A style that impressed the music press. Everyone agrees: something special is happening here. It is not for nothing that they also performed at the showcase festival ESNS. Pridian doesn't just want to tear the house down; they want to suck you into their story. The fact that everything falls apart afterwards is just a bonus.
