Breakdown of Sanity, the renowned DIY modern metal band from Bern, is back in full force in 2025. Since its founding in 2007 by guitarist and songwriter Oly Stingel, the band has continuously developed their intense, breakdown-driven metalcore sound, with influences from deathcore, hardcore, and progressive metal.

Their albums The Last Sunset (2009), [MIRRORS] (2011), Perception (2013), and Coexistence (2016) are all cult classics within the scene. The albums are known for their compelling energy and raw intensity.

After a creative break, Breakdown of Sanity made a powerful comeback in 2020 with a series of energetic singles: “Traces” (2020), “Black Smoke” (2021), “Collapse” (2023), “Echoes of the Void” (2024), and “Perfect Enemy” (2024).

When the band celebrated their live comeback at the Impericon Festivals in Germany in the spring of 2024, that year unexpectedly faced several lineup changes. Drummer Thomas Rindlisbacher had to step back for health reasons, after which David Stutzer took his place. Later that year, vocalist Carlo Knöpfel left the band to pursue a different musical path. Following this, the group publicly began searching for a new frontman.

In the spring of 2025, Kivi Brändle was introduced as the new vocalist. Their first joint single, “The Hunt” , was released in May 2025, followed by a second single, “Torn Pages” , in February 2026. With this release, the band also announced a new album, which will be released later in 2026.

With renewed energy, Breakdown of Sanity is embarking on a new era – ready to bring their uncompromising combination of crushing rhythms and emotional melodies back to the stages of Europe and beyond.
