Chico Pinheiro Quartet

Brazilian guitar master connects samba, classical, and jazz in his own compositional language.

Chico Pinheiro is among the most influential guitarists in contemporary Brazilian jazz. His warm tone, fluid phrasing, and the way he intertwines Brazilian music, classical influences, and jazz make him a voice with a completely unique character. He collaborated with Brad Mehldau, Dianne Reeves, and Ron Carter, and received two Grammy nominations for his work.

With his debut album Meia Noite Meio Dia (2002), Pinheiro immediately landed in the year-end lists of major Brazilian newspapers. His album City of Dreams was nominated for a Grammy. Recently, Two Brothers, an instrumental duo album together with Romero Lubambo, was released, featuring music by, among others, Tom Jobim, Stevie Wonder, and Billie Eilish.

"There are many incredible guitarists out there. On the top of that list, I’d include Chico Pinheiro." (Pat Metheny)
