Energetic garage pop featuring DEATH VALLEY GIRLS (USA) and BELLA & THE BIZARRE (GER)
Make way for some California Doom Boogie and the Cosmic Power of Love. That is, at least, how the Death Valley Girls describe their energetic garage pop. This quartet from Los Angeles, founded in 2013 by former Hole drummer Patty Schlemel and her guitar-playing brother Larry and frontwoman Bonnie Bloomgarden, has a penchant for B-movies, garage pop, and occult film classics.
Albums are being released on Suicide Squeeze, and the band's latest achievement is titled Welcome to Earth, which sees the light of day on October 9th. During their career, the band received a significant boost from maestro Iggy Pop himself, who, in the music video for the single Disaster (Is What We're After), is seen humming while devouring a hamburger at a table, before uttering the legendary words: “I'm Iggy Pop and I'm eating a burger listening to the Death Valley Girls.”
You can't get any cooler than that, of course. Get HIP!
And oh yeah, the support act BELLA & THE BIZARRE is also a band to look forward to. This Berlin-based band is the brainchild of BELLA KHAN, yes, the daughter of the legendary King Khan. It is no wonder, then, that their musical upbringing was sound. Their records are released on the renowned In The Red records, and in their short existence, BELLA AND THE BIZARRE has already proven to be a fantastic live band, delivering groovy, soulful R&R alongside a performance you will remember.
SIKED for this Tuesday evening. It's going to be a good one, and we're just not going to use the words female-fronted because that's stupid.
Tickets are free with the We Are Public pass.
Regular price: €17.50
