Gretchen Parlato Quartet

Celebrated singer from Los Angeles presents songs from her new album The Wise Ones.

With her remarkable, calm voice, Gretchen Parlato makes every piece of music her own song. This can be a well-known jazz number, but also a Brazilian song or even a cello suite by Bach. For her album The Wise Ones, she wrote new songs, but also looked back with big names with whom she previously collaborated successfully, such as Robert Glasper, Gerald Clayton, Mark Guiliana, and songwriter Alan Hampton.

Gretchen Parlato is widely recognized as one of the best contemporary jazz vocalists. As a student, she already performed with Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, both early fans. She won important awards and was heard on albums by, among others, Esperanza Spalding, Marcus Miller, and Kneebody. She collaborated with the famous Brazilian percussionist Airto Moreira. And she formed the vocal trio Tillery with Rebecca Martin and Becca Stevens.

‘Parlato goes beyond mere intimacy in her singing, as if we are being invited to share her innermost thoughts… Fearless, spellbinding’ (Jazzwise).
