Groove Beest Family Concert: Kay Slice

Hear how today's hip hop, afrobeat, and soul blend with ancient sounds and stories.

Kay Slice is a true storyteller, a hip hop kid with a Ghanaian soul. With his smooth voice, he follows his own path through the music world. Hip hop, afrobeat, soul: it all comes together in his songs, stories, and poems. You can clearly hear that he feels connected to West Africa and all the sounds that come from there. From drums from Ghana, for example. Or from the balafon, an ancient instrument full of melody.

But Kay Slice wants more than just making music, he wants to make you aware of the African soul that people all over the world carry with them. People who have spread across the globe over the centuries and have passed on the fire. Kay Slice envisions a future in which music, poetry, and art connect everyone. And in which present and past come together through indestructible grooves.

Kay Slice vocals, Kweku Mensah guitar, Anton de Bruin keys, Thijmen Molema drums, Sway Papa bass
