JALAN JALAN: FARADAYS
Saturday 22 August 2026
Pop artist Faradays found old cassette tapes belonging to her mother containing gamelan music — the traditional Indonesian music that played in the living room during her childhood. She sampled percussive beats and Javanese scales and completed the sound with her characteristic intimate vocals and brooding synths.
This year, she is coming out with her new Indo-pop sound. A sound that blends echoes from Indonesia with electronica, indie pop, and hip-hop elements. On stage, she completes this world with dancers who literally embody Indo-European culture down to their fingertips. A series of singles will be released starting this summer, with the full album GAMELAN on the horizon. Faradays is the artist name of songwriter and producer Karindra Perrier. She debuted with the EP Memories in 2019 and toured the country as a 3voor12 Popronde Talent, 3FM KX Talent, and support act for Blaudzun and The Japanse house. She then won the Up: Next prize, giving her the opportunity to work on her gamelan record for an extended period. After years of experimentation in a creative cocoon, there is now a unique mix of East and West, old and new, ready for the outside world.
