Jasper Høiby’s 3Elements ft. Xavi Torres & Naíma Acuña
Phronesis bassist carves his own path through the piano trio tradition.
As the founder of Phronesis, bassist and composer Jasper Høiby brought new energy to the concept of the piano trio. The same perspective on structure, risk, and collective musical momentum also forms the basis of his own project, 3Elements. For this formation, he repeatedly invites other young players, this time with pianist Xavi Torres and drummer Naíma Acuña.
On Conversations of Hope, released on Edition Records, the music moves quickly and hits hard: clear melodic ideas, shifting time signatures, and an acute sense of space. Acuña’s precise, driving drumming and Torres’ harmonically focused piano playing closely align with Høiby’s compositions, in which the double bass takes center stage.
