Poetry boring? Certainly not. Joost Oomen and Kruidkoek throw a bucket of punk jazz, a bucket of absurdism, and a bucket of childlike overconfidence over it, and voilà, suddenly you are having a party at a poet's. Think Jules Deelder, think Anthony Szmierek, think Villa Achterwerk with an extra lick of one thing or another. Bananas are being shot, a pudding is attacked with a saw, and you go headfirst into this fruit mush.

Joost Oomen (1990) is the most notorious performance poet in the Netherlands and has performed from Cape Town to Schiermonnikoog and from the Zwarte Cross to Into the Great Wide Open. As a hyperactive punk-jazz formation, Kruidkoek tore up many a stage and proved in passing that complex conservatory music *is* suitable for getting drunk to. Together, they have been ramming poetry and jazz down the throats of the Dutch public since 2019 as if it were pure bliss. And the crazy thing is: no one complains. In fact, people have already been spotted who can belt out the poems word for word.
