Maridalen Trio
Norwegian acoustic formation draws inspiration from nature. 'Idyllic and seductive' (Aftenposten).
The Norwegian jazz trio Maridalen is named after the vast valley north of Oslo and is inspired by nature. The transparent, playful, and warm sound arises from the interplay between trumpet, saxophone, and double bass. The three musicians constantly complement each other in melody, harmony, and rhythm, making the whole greater than the sum of its parts.
Maridalen built an excellent reputation thanks to the self-titled debut album from 2021 and the follow-up Bortenfor (2022). Both albums were recorded in a wooden church in Maridalen. The trio spread its wings for the third album Gressholmen (2024), which was made on the island of the same name. The live performances also receive rave reviews in the international press.
Anders Hefre saxophone/clarinet, Jonas Kilmork Vemøy trumpet, Andreas Rødland Haga double bass
