On her alto saxophone, Rotterdam-based saxophonist Femke Mooren plays melodic, narrative compositions with a clear, warm tone. In 2023, she won both the Princess Christina Jazz Competition and the Women in Jazz Prize. For this new project, which brings her to TivoliVredenburg, the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival brought her together with three musicians from the Scottish jazz scene. Each individual musician has an impressive track record. Double bassist Ali Watson, for example, made an acclaimed debut album with Terrarium, tenor saxophonist Harben Kay won the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award, and drummer Greg Irons is a highly sought-after musician in the Scottish jazz scene. Mooren / Watson / Kay / Irons are four distinctive musical voices driven by the same creative curiosity.
