Just try capturing the essence of the Swiss avant-garde Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp in a single paragraph. The fact is that OTPMD goes in all directions, from introverted pop and free jazz via danceable, ecstatic outbursts to Afro-funk and post-punk.
The orchestra, led by double bassist/composer Vincent Bertholet, released their sixth album, *Ventre Unique* (on the excellent Bongo JOe label). Featuring a wide palette of instruments—strings, guitars, winds, bongos, and marimbas—the songs range from a minimalist groove and krautrock to Fela Kuti-esque sound eruptions meant for some serious dancing.
Anyway, the description says it all, but Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp is first and foremost an orchestra to cherish and experience live. We are very much looking forward to this 14-piece musical spaceship.
