Pete Roth is a German-born and raised jazz guitarist who has been residing in the United Kingdom for some time. He considers Joe Pass one of his greatest influences. That influence is clearly audible in the German-British trio, with which he builds upon the foundation laid by Pass in a modern and energetic way. You can also hear influences from John Scofield and Julian Lage.

In this trio, alongside bassist Mike Pratt, none other than drummer Bill Bruford plays a key role. Bruford is, of course, known for his work with prog greats such as Yes, King Crimson, UK, and briefly Genesis. In a previous life, Roth was Bruford's drum technician, with whom he maintained a warm relationship after his retirement from drumming in 2009. So warm, in fact, that the drumming legend dusted off his sticks thanks to the guitarist. Meanwhile, the Pete Roth Trio has been making waves on stage for a few years now with a reborn Bruford.
