Storm: Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw x OFFprojects
Music by Shabaka Hutchings with dance by Amos Ben-Tal.
In Storm, three distinct artistic voices meet: OFFprojects, the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, and the British multi-instrumentalist Shabaka Hutchings – a key figure in the London jazz renewal, a bridge-builder between traditions, known for his rhythmic intensity. Together they explore the vitality of the unpredictable: an interdisciplinary work in which structure and improvisation constantly test each other's boundaries.
Choreographer Amos Ben-Tal and Hutchings draw from minimalist structures and pattern music, allowing dancers and musicians to move between precisely formulated material and free exploration. Thus, each evening a new, concentrated flow of energy, friction, and subtlety arises. Storm exposes the intersections between contemporary dance and jazz and shows how both disciplines can enhance each other in sharpness and poetry.
